Our Vision . . .
Is to be a Spirit-filled church that reconciles people to correct relationship with God through Jesus Christ, that develops and equips God's people then to be ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe . . .
a) that there is one God, the Creator of all things, who is infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
b) in Jesus Christ, who is true God and true man, whose life and death demonstrate the selfless love of God for all people. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross as a sacrifice for the sins of all people. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, and is now at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate.
c) that humankind was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and as a result is eternally separated from God. By personally accepting the sacrifice that Jesus has provided by His death on the cross, do we obtain salvation. This includes forgiveness for our sins, reconciliation with God, adoption as sons and daughters of God, and the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit as a seal signifying God's embracing of us as His children.
d) that any action of the Church should always have love for God and love for our neighbor as its origin and basis. Good works are correctly expected of those who have obtained salvation, but they do not provide, supplement, or in any other way add to or change that salvation.
e) in the spiritual unity of all believers in Christ. The Church is composed of all those who have accepted the sacrifice of Jesus and are thus adopted into the family of God. Jesus Christ is the Lord and Head of this Church. Every local congregation has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs.
f) in the five-fold ministries given to the Church at the ascension of Jesus Christ (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers) and that they continue to be needed and should be expected today. Working with these ministries will be appointed leadership consisting of elders, deacons, and other gifted men and women of the Church. (Ps 68:18; Eph. 4:11-12; Phil. 1:1) No person is excluded from any office or ministry based on sex, race, social position, or age. (Gal 3:26-28)
g) that water baptism in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; and the Lord's Supper are ordinances to be observed by believers during the present age. These are not, however, to be regarded as a means of salvation.
h) in the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the present-day manifestation of the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12 and 14; Rom 12) which are in addition to the seal of the Holy Spirit at salvation. Further, we are admonished to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit.
i) the Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the only inspired, authoritative Word of God, and is therefore our infallible rule of faith and practice.
j) in the reality and present ministry of angels, beings (literally messengers) who carry out assignments for God and thus deserve our respect, but should never be the object of worship.
k) in the reality of Satan and his demons who are in rebellion against God, and seek to hinder the advance of the Kingdom of God.
l) that humankind was given dominion of the earth under God's authority, and that at the fall that dominion was abdicated to Satan. Jesus has reclaimed the rights to that dominion by His bodily sacrifice and resurrection with power. The great commission commands believers to establish that reclaimed dominion on earth. This includes bringing the news of salvation, making disciples, ministering freedom from demonic bondage, and healing the sick. (Mat 28: 18-20, Mk 16:15-18)
m) in the future personal return in power and glory of Jesus Christ to earth. We also believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead: to everlasting joy with the Lord for those having accepted the sacrifice of Jesus, and to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment for those having rejected that sacrifice. |

We believe that God has given every Christian
-
Spiritual and natural gifts that are given for the purpose of serving others
-
Heart motivations that influence the choices we make and the feelings we have
-
Personalities that lend themselves to diverse opportunities
-
Experiences - spiritual, educational, or those born out of living life, that compel us to minister
Various ministry opportunities exist in our church - our desire is that every member in our church family discover those abilities for service that God has given them. The following includes some of the activies that we serve in together.

We believe that the following are specific identifiers that God has created (and is creating) in us. It is our desire to see these develop more fully:
Freedom
We are a people free from the bondage of sin, the law, guilt, and coercion. We are a people free to worship the living God, to live an abundant holy life, to preach good news, to heal, and to set others free!
Pioneering
In both the Church and in culture we see ourselves as pioneers breaking new ground, establishing beachheads, and challenging boundaries of tradition--all for God's Kingdom purposes.
Experiential Christianity
We live as children who delight in God's desire to surprise and amaze us with the mystery of His love, His glory, His grace, Himself. Our expressions to Him will not be contained in predefined structures.
Kingdom Culture
God's kingdom and his kingdom purposes are much bigger than us or the here and now. We have the amazing privilege of partnering with Him to see His will accomplished, but what He gives us is not ours. It's all His.
Real Relationships
As sons and daughters secure in God's unconditional love, we are free to live together in whole, life-giving, unmasked (transparent?) relationships. Love is non-negotiable.
Our purpose is to. . .
. . . . Reach the people of Salt Lake City and Utah with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. .
. . . . At every stage in this process we desire to have hearts rich in love that value people as God's creations, . .
. . . . So that they can be discipled and become mature worshipers of Christ in the truth of God's Word and the power of the Holy Spirit. . .
. . . . As we bring them to a place of wholeness and freedom in Christ, they become at home in the presence of God and free . . . .
. . To reach our communities and the nations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. . . . |
